This Sunday (September 3rd) is a special
event at the Ely Stage Stop Museum.
Along with our free monthly Fiddler’s Jam,
we will be welcoming back the fully
restored Vic Ferron Freight Wagon.
The Museum is open from 11:00 till 3:00
at 9921 Soda Bay Road (just north of Kitt’s
Corner). Fiddle music starts at noon, and
the wagon will make it’s appearance being
pulled by Dr. Glenn Benjamin’s horses.
Built by Lakeport Blacksmith Vic Ferron, this freight
wagon has a rare duel rear brake shoe system, which
was necessary for handling Lake County’s steep
mountain roads.
The wagon’s restoration was completed by Master
Wainwright William “Bill” Melton in Porterville, CA. The
work was sponsored by Dr. Paul Marchand and the
Highland Springs Equestrian Center.
Free horse-drawn buggy rides will be available to all who
attend. Food, beer, wine,
and sodas will be
available. Enjoy the
shade of the Oak Grove
for this Sunday event.
See You There!
